Brake Fluid Type

    What type of brake fluid is used? I know that my Honda Shadow required dot 4 but not sure about my xj650.There isn't anything online that says anything on what type is required.

    Mine say DOT 3 on top of the mc cover.

    DOT 5.1 if you can find it. Has the highest heat spec. DOT 4 is higher than 3. FRESH is better than OLD. Don't get DOT 5 ever. It's NON water absorbing.

    Just use FRESH DoT3. Never pour it back in, even when doing extensive bleeding.
