I am rebuilding brake system and local mechanic advised just to run 2 braided lines straight from front master to front calipers, ditching the distribution joint. He says this will do the job and be cheaper (less connections I guess).

Does anyone have a view on this practice? Is the distribution joint on the front forks (1985 XJ900N) a corrosion problem area? Will 2 lines run effectively? Seems to be an untidy solution.

Thanks again for the forums gracious help. Very useful in getting that &$@@!!* neutral switch finally in!!!

Lot's off people due this. Especialy when the get rid of the old MC thats behind the headlight on some seca's and go the bar mounted MC. Won't be a problem. I will be doing this this winter.

thats just what i did to my seca, saves maybe 30$ might be easier to bleed and cleans up the front end
    go for it scottyj
measure your hoses with a length of clear plastic hose about the same size as brake line, it will curve and bend like brake line

Where are you guys planning on getting the brake lines and do you know what bore the holes need to be? I'm trying to go from dual fronts to single and need a brake line that will work, I tried one off of a 450 motocross bike and it won't work.

Anyone know if an XS front brake mC and line will work with an XJ caliper?

the banjo bolts are 10X1.25 on both ends so the banjo bolts have a 10mm hole
    z1enterprises.com search brake hose

Any downside to this like having the brake lines hanging in the way somehow? I'm about to rebuild the front caliper on the Maxim and was going to go stainless while i'm at it, getting rid of the distribution joint would make things easier.

And by hanging down I mean by getting rid of the distribution joint and having the brake like get in the way somehow...
