Since my motor is back together with new piston rings. I have been reading about the proper breakin method to seat them and i have come across two different schools of thought. One method is riding it hard and fast to seat the rings and the other is slow and steady. Is there a reason i should do one and not the other?or any tips?

This is my first attempt at this so i want to get it right.

Slow and steady has the advantage of wearing any rough bits down without much risk of breaking rings.
The fast way has the advantage of being fast.
I like to split the difference. 200 miles of slow and easy; varying the throttle regularly (riding on residential streets takes care of that), followed by a good romp on the highway (again varying throttle position often).

Thanks mate, do you flush out the oil after 50 miles? I used a butt load of assembly lube and i am concerned it might not mix well or cause globing issues.

    Remove filter cap....
    Install a new filter.....

Assembly lube mixes with the oil. It won't form globs.
Just do an oil change after the break-in (500 miles or so).

A break in oil is best if you have some, but a store-brand oil will do. Don't waste money on oil that you'll be changing soon.
