Here’s the scenario; In a previous thread I had asked for advice on a broken speedo. I managed to fix it and put the dash back together and reconnect all the wires behind the headlight of this 1982 750j. When I started it up, speedo worked fine but now the BRK warning is on. I checked front pads (90%), checked fluid (brand new), checked fluid lines (no leaks), rode bike (performed really well), rear brakes squeaked a little. I them removed the headlight and reconnected every single wire. Still have the BRK warning :-(

BTW...I checked the brake lights too, front/back work fine.

brake warning is fluid level in the master cylinder. it has a float in the mastercylinder. there is no repair kit available but there is a jumper device sold by xj4ever to make the light go out.

Well, I don’t really want to make the light go out. The Warning Control does that already. The “BRK” still shows up in the Warning panel after I press the warning control.

    check your wiring.

when you start the bike it cycles through the warnings by its self. does your bike do that.
unplug the wires to the MC and measure for continuity.
the float is a switch and should be on when mc is full which should shut light off.

If you discounted any thing in the headlight bucket you may have a wire or connector not hooked up right.

Bingo! Found it. The brake sensor appears to have 4 wires leading from the reservoir and I disconnected and then reconnected all 4 and the BRK Warning stopped. Whew.
