Broken part on carb diaphragm assy.

Got further into the carbs today. Everything looks like new, except one of the nylon rings which holds the carb diaphragm to the slide is cracked.



Probably been that way for years, and might last years yet but I decided to have my hand at a repair.

Got out a cigarette lighter and a heavy nylon wire tie for material and went to work. After filling, grinding and filing this is the result:


It's actually a lot smoother than it looks. Some differences in material color and scorching make it look rough.

Crossing my fingers and hoping it holds up.

 

Nice repair! You did the right thing. I think it would have cracked the diaphraghm eventually right where the corner of the break is.

 

Hey MiCarl, I have a set of 650 carbs that I'm parting out, and have some good diaphrams if you want a spare "just in case". Let me know.....
