Ok, I seem to have reached the age where the memory is failing.

I've had Max offline for a month while I did a valve check, carb clean, etc. He's all sealed up and I was testing things when I realized the throttle revs when I turn the forks to the left, so I'm binding up my cable. But for the live of me I can't remember the exact path the throttle cable goes along the frame, and my Haynes doesn't have a diagram.

Memory serves (remember, it's failing) that the cable goes from the throttle, in around the outside of the right fork, below the tank washer, above the coil, then under and across the frame to the bracket on the carb.

Does that sound right? Anyone know of a pic of the frame sans tank or a diagram?

PM me with an email address and factory diagrams shall be yours. (Except there will be a tach cable where you have none. I only have the early 650 FSM.)

Thanks, lads, that sorted the issue. Sadly, it's going deeper, and I may have to put the old gal down for the rest of summer to do a deep clean/lube.

Noooo, just turn in the adjustment knob near the grip, giving the internal cable more slack. Mine was messed up when I bought it, I would turn the bars to park and the RPM's would climb. Not good. Adjust the cable knurl and you'll be set. Just like the clutch cable

I got the throttle issue sorted, it was just bad pathing by me. But there's something else going on that I need to check out, can't get a consistent idle (possibly a leak somewhere, gonna replace some more rubber and recheck my carbs). I just don't get a lot of wrench time, so it's a slow process.

But it no longer revs when I turn the forks, so that's a win!
