gday all,Ok hear goes,i couldnt find the answer i was looking for in the search and its most likely been covered plenty of times, yesterday on my way home my cam chain started to sound like it was scraping the cover when it hit 5000 RPM then would stop once it reached another couple of hundred RPM i went to tension my cam chain as par the manuel and it didnt work, i took off the cover and moved the C to the pointer in a anti-clockwise way then loosened off the locking nut and adjusting nut a couple of turns and did them back up,made no difference, should i have moved something to get the tensioner to tighten up? i was under the impression once you loosened these 2 things it did it itself, thanks in advance, regards ken p.s it only has 26000 miles on it and has been looked after

If you have the auto tensioner, you should rotate the mill counter clockwise for a couple of turns, then sharply in the opposit direction, preferably with someone tapping the end of the tensioner.

thanks for the reply wizard,i thought mine was the manual one, does that also apply in my instance? so once you set the C at the pointer and loosen the locking nut and the adjusting nut,do you then move the crank shaft a cou[ple of turns then sharply back? ken

No, if you have the manual one you set the pointer at "C" loosen the locknut, loosen the bolt a couple turns; TAP on the adjuster body (in case the secondary plunger is stuck;) then do up the bolt and then the locknut.
