i bin looking at the cams , i see 2 markings , one on the sprockets [a little circle] next to bolt and also there is another little dot on the shafts itself but not inline with dot on bolt next to the bearing , i figured out via a post in forums the "c" mark on ignition end on crank is the marker for cam timing once exact TDC is established.

sooooooooo is set c mark then what? when i put da cams wid new chain back in? when i get da bits that is.

    Thanks in anticipation

The C mark is for setting the camchain tensioner. The T mark is TDC. So long as the relucters or the plate have not been removed. The sprockets have no timming marks. Don't know why the dots are there but I didn't use them when reinstalling my head. Timing is set using the dots on the camshaft and arrows on the camshaft caps on the left inner side.
I sure would like to know the story on the sprocket marks.

Possible that these sprockets are used in another application where the marks are used.

first off while looking about i realized a quick way to check if the cam chain is ok , in da pics the auto tensioner is all the way in [after free the rachet] , then a pic of all the way pulled out , the pic less than half way out was the way mine was and the chain is ok , even though i fit a new one soon since its all apart..so quick way [instead of remove top cover] would be remove the bolt on the end and pull out spring , then remove the tensioner and just look how far its sticking out as it stays there until you either pull it out or flick the rachet and push it in to reset it , so also if you were fitting a new chain you would have to reset it as there would be too much fixed pressure on the chain...

other pic of cam , these cams must be off/reused from a earlier model motor [standard] as there is a tacho drive there still [the spiral teeth]

Got the same gear on my Seca cam. Don't sweat it, probably cheaper to buy the same cams for both models and just not use the gearing for the mechanical tach than to whip up another cam profile.

Fitted/assembled the new cam chain and a front guide ect , the auto cam chain adjuster is 3 teeth out [on the rachet thing] now , so below half way in the "as was" picture.....

motor nearly there , i am getting a broken bolt removed and then i'll assemble the lower crankcase soon...
