XJ400? easier to buy a 550 or 600 motor and bolt it in assuming they run the same frame

If it's the 4-cylinder XJ400 (4G0) they are essentially the same as the 550 Secas.

An engine swap would be much easier.

i have thought of the engine swap and if that was done i would want to bore and strock that motor as welll but from what i can tell the 400 lower block and the 550 lower block are the same

    Get a load of THIS

"Wing cut" and balanced crank, higher compression, bigger and different carbs, go get an E-Bay 600 motor to start with.
