Can I use a 2 wire tach with my 3 wire tach?

    2 wires? Are you sure you didn't get a damaged unit?
    I'm going to make an assumption that the 2 wires will be the power input and the coil signal with the case providing the ground return. I think you could make yours work provided you install it with the above in mind. It is my opinion there is no such thing as a 2 wire tach, you need to power the coil (2 wires) and then give it a signal (1 wire). It is possible that there are some systems that may have highly technical schemes to get the signal and power through the same wire but I don't think that would be the case with the types of systems used on our vintage machines.
    Anybody else got some wisdom for us?
