So i've read some recent posts and have also been givin the same advice in person from experienced people, you shouldn't have to re-jet a stock bike.

well i'm 7 turns out and it's the best I can make it, doesn't really make a difference w/ the air filter removed. at 7 turns out it slightly stumbles before 2 grand, 3 turns won't rev at all - it'll just sput, i went in increments of half turns till I arrived at 6.5 were it would rev w/ a slow roll of the throttle, 7 I didn't have to be so gentle but it still stumbles.

well 7 is too loose anyway so I can't leave it like that. My idea is next size up Pilot Fuel Jet and wanted to just get random thoughts from my fellow members. Fire Away

well I just read chacals jet selection and found something interesting. I'm actually hoping I have the wrong carbs so i COULD PUT THIS TO BED. the stock jet description says pilot fuel jet is 40 for all North American 82 XJ 650RJ models and size 43 for all 82 XJ650RJ Canadian models.

I have a 82 XJ650RJ NON YICS. I think i read somewhere that the 82 Non YICS Is Canadian. Maybe the PO put a new set of carbs on and this is why it could never be tuned right?
