My first carb tear down went pretty well. Took me several hours, but actually getting it out wasn't as bad as I thought. A couple of issues:

Has anyone else ever come across a really hard area of the boot? Most of the rubber was pliable, but there was a portion that was hard as heck! I mean, not pliable at all!

Any tricks to getting the final boot into place? (The hard one...) For the others I basically wrenched and twisted the boots into place, but there's gotta be an easier way.

    Tomorrow the tune up!

Take the boot off, coat the inside and matching metal part of the carb that leads in with oil and put the carb boot on and off several times and see if that loosens it up any. Easy to do with the boots and carbs off the bike. Had to do that yesterday with a bike I just picked up. Four hours, cut hands, colorful language and other unmentionables later, I finally got them on after it occurred to me to try that with everything off.

Thanks! I'll definitely give that a try. I was afraid of getting anything in between the boot and the carb after the cleaning I gave them, but I don't see any other options at this point.

I'm dying to see if this fixed the problem.
