Last weekend I came across an 83 XJ sitting in a front yard for sale. I have wanted a bike for some time so I made an offer. The only problem was that gas was leaking out of the 2nd carb. I got it out last night and took it apart. I see the float itself in carb 2 was bad. Now for my question. I can find carb kits all over the place for this bike but not floats. I am new to bikes but am pretty good overall with cars so I figured I would take the chance. Any ideas where to get floats?

Also, i noticed on carbs 2 and 4, the white plastic o-ring on the diaphram on both are split, not the thin rubbery material but the ring that holds it onto the cylinder. is that normal? if not, where can somebody find parts for that?

I know this is a lot of questions but I am overly excited and this bike is in otherwise MINT condition. Was stored for 13 years with no gas, hence the problems. However, it starts right up and purrs like a new bike.

    Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok... so after much headache I decided to notice the nice LINKS link in the nav and found bikebandit.com has just about everything you could need for this bike.

even though I had no replies, thanks! I am excited to be an 750XJ owner and I will post my progress after I get these parts in. Hopefully everything will run nicely then!

Is there ever an annual XJ ride? That would be cool.

yeh theres a few different places to get stuff on the internet, bikebandit.com is one, they usually have everything you need for pretty decent prices. Good luck on the wrenching you have to do, me personally i think that the xj bike is one of the best bikes you can work on, ride and own and am sure you will enjoy yours.

Dont be discouraged because know one answered your thread , maybe do a search on here for whatever it is you need help with and dont hesitate to post a question on here about a problem you have because these guys & Gals are very knowledgable when it comes to motorcycle.

    Good luck.

What's on the list of things you need help with?

We got enough folks, that have had every possible situation you can think of, covered!

Let me bounce one off you ... You suddenly have only 50 psi across the board on the inline four. What would you rule-out; first?

Two other lik that wil save you money. partsnmore.com and oldbikebarn.com Partsnmore has float nedles for $4 apiece. Only bad thing is they have a $35 minimum order. Old bike barn has the floats with no minimum order but want $9 apiece for the float needles. Have you pulled the float and found fuel inside? This is the only way they go bad.

If you can find a decent set of carbs on the eeebay you would have plenty of spare parts... most of the new parts tend to be a bit pricy
    Good Luck
