I have finished the engine. It's ready to go back into the frame. Think I'll paint it first. Should be easier to get to the mount areas.

It's probably got tappets, which you adjust with a screw & locknut.

Wizard, tappets is the new design they used on the SOHC fours.

On the old CB twins the rocker shaft has cams on the ends. You adjust the valve clearance by turning the shaft, thus changing the pivot point.

The shaft has a lock nut to keep it in position after the clearance is set.

If you pull the tin covers off the sides of the head you should see 2 shafts behind each (they have little arrows on them) with a screwdriver slot and lock nut. The left side also has the points.

The way you set them is to position the rocker on the back of the cam lobe, loosen the lock nut then turn the shaft with a screwdriver until you have the desired clearance. Then you hold the shaft with the screwdriver in the slot while you tighten the lock nut.

I believe the left side cover also has the points under it.

The rocker shaft is #5 in this exploded view from the fiche

Oh heck, here's a pick I shamelessly stole off the web:

Thanks a lot MICarl got them done. Not a bad rig actually. I am much further into this thing now. Trouble was a blown head gasket and things have spiraled downward from there. Top end is off and waiting on lots of parts.
