looking to switch gas tanks and lose the giganticus rex that is on my xj650.I have hardtailed my bike and added apes in place of the stock bars lost the stock air filter box and went with pods. When i sit on my solo seat i am very very close to the tank because of the length ,so i wonder if anyone knows a small tank that will fit these bikes, without much modifications

The only ones that I have seen or ever heard of swapping over easily with out any fab are the XJ650 and xj750 tanks. Anything else I have seen or heard of had to have some welding and modification done to it. And yes a peanut tank is somewhat common but personally I don't care for the look.

easy now, its because, in the past 2ish years I have been on here, I have never seen another tank on an xj beside the peanut tank, now... take a tank and use some creativity to make one fit... our bikes are only a single backbone , to a point...

Before you blow a head gasket! You might want to consider what schooter said. Other than another XJ tank (Pnut included), would involve some fabricating. If your talents run in that direction, build your own  ...
