If I were to change the mufflers on my bike (I'm not a huge fan of the stock ones) to something off of another bike would I have to rejet the carbs? I don't mean straight pipes or some high pro exhaust... just change the fat cone ends to something sleeker... not looking for any specific sound or what have ya.

    Thanks in advance!

All depends on how restrictive. To be honest you will probably be ok not written in stone but you still have the collector where all the pipes go into it acts like a muffler somewhat. Have you herd what they sound like with no mufflers they are loud but nothing compared to straight pipes. A rule of thumb the louder the muffler the less restriction it has and the leaner you will run. I have herd of a lot of people putting sportster mufflers on them with no problem. I am sure you will get responses from people with 700s that have done it. I put a 4-1 on my max x so i really don't know what changing just mufflers will do on a 700

I took my mufflers off. Its loud but not too loud IMO. I think the outlert diameter is 1 3/4, soo you could try to put any other muffler on the end but will probably take a little work to hang it

That is the hardest part is getting it hung and looking correct. How did it run with the mufflers off? if it ran good you will have no problems when installing new mufflers

On the XJs with full "collector box" exhaust systems as long as you leave the stock head pipes and collector box in place, you probably won't need to re-jet. As long as you re-fit some sort of mufflers, you won't change the overall characteristics of the system enough to need serious carb fiddling.

It seems to run fine. is probably a little lean and does make popping on deceleration
