changing my exhaust

    i recently purchased a 1982 xj650 and it came with the original exhaust and previous owner had a set of harley sportster slipons he said he was going to use,will these stock sportster slipons be usable or should i ebay them

    They should work great. Do a search here and you will find a lot of guys love them and and love the sound. I am actually looking for a set. If you dont like them you will have no problem selling them here.

    +1 on what kcoop said. I'm in the same boat. My stock ones are not in the greatest shape and I will replace them one of these days with sportster mufflers. They are cheap and readily available.

    I just got a set for $50 off ebay. I like the sound although the breathing feels "tight" over 5k. The vibration through the handlebars is different. I had a shop put them on because I have no tools (and live in a condo). They fabricated a centre stand bumper that attached to the passenger pegs on both sides.

    Not that it matters but once you get a set of mufflers that have been used to the point of depleting the baffles a little bit, they sound pretty darn nice. Low rumble and fat toned.
