Greetings from Denver. I know there are several other sport bike forums out there, but since the FJ600 has some cousins here I was hoping I might be able to set up camp. The other FJ forum I came across was labeled 1000/1100 and not sure the 600 has as much in common.

The bike I have is a 1984 and has spent the past few years in a field in Wyoming, was given to the owners cousin who drug it back here with intentions of fixing it up. He stripped down the plastics, tank etc... and put the stuff in boxes and that's about as far as he got. I took it off his hands for cheap figuring I would just part it out on Craigslist and Ebay. The bike odometer is showing 25k and the motor has good compression so I couldn't resist to take the carbs apart, throw the carb bodys in a pot of boiling water(butterflies were froze solid) while I cleaned up all the jets etc...Put them back on the bike this morning, rigged up a temp fuel source and I'll be damned if that thing didn't fire up after cranking it for about a minute. Didn't even use new plugs just checked the gap on the old ones.

The bike is in pretty rough shape but I'm not sure I have the heart to part out the ol' girl now. Nothing mechanical that's all that broke, just needs gone thru. Title is an issue, looking into if I can get a hold of the previous, previous owner, and depending on the outcome of that will determine it's destiny. Maybe it just ends up being a cheap track day bike. I have a couple of old KZ's as well, I prefer the older bikes, easy to work on and cheap to insure. The FJ is outdated compared to today's sportbike standards but certainly has a better suspension then my Kaws.

Looking forward to tapping into your guy's knowledge, that is if you don't mind an FJ hanging out.

    Hi Mate.
The FJ was sold in Europe as the XJ600 from 84 to 91, as opposed to the two years in the states. There are a few XJ600 owners on this site - myself included.

I think the bike is definately too good to part out! But then I would say that.
rear suspension bushes and monoshock are not cheap but are available. At 25K yours are probably ok.

Good luck and post some pics.

I just posted some in "XJ chat" under "Finally finished Markies XJ600"

I upload mine to photobucket then copy the "Direct link" into the "IMG" box.

One member had an FJ600 that was like brand new - but his stepson was involved in an accident and it was wrecked. I'll try and find a link.

Put the plastics etc.. back on today to see what is there. Chin scoop is MIA and the fairing was broke on one side so I made a clean cut and matched the other side. Paint is very faded, nice shade of pink for now. Airbox is missing, there is one on Ebay, but it looks like a POS. I don't want to screw with pods, but might experiment with making one. Plumbing parts aren't just for water.
