I'm in the early stages of engine restoration/painting.

I'll keep it stock gloss black, but most of the high temp paint is not good when it comes to gas stains or easy clean up.

From what I understand, the high temp (1 part) clear helps, but I REALLY want this paint job to last.

I have been very happy with the Spraymax 2 part clearcoat and I'm considering using it on the engine. Since my X is water cooled, it doesn't get anywhere near as hot as an airhead.
The spraymax is "acrylic resins" and hardener.

Anyone have a good guess or should I be the guinea pig?
I have an email into the company, and will also contact my supplier.

Just a follow up to this since no-one seems to have a good answer.

I finally got through to my distributor and he told me that he has many customers using this clearcoat on engine blocks and the only problem areas are within 1/2" of the exhaust ports on the heads.
SO, with that in mind, my X engine should have no problems with this clear coat.
I'll post pics once she's done!
