Clutch adjustment?

    I have some good "clunk" when shifting into gear. Before I mess with anything, I was going to ask.

    Do I need to take the free play out of the handle? Will this give me more travel on the cable? Or do I go through the rigging procedure in the Maintenance Manual---which says to loosen jam nut and turn adjuster in until contact, then back off 1/4 turn.

    Just looking for advice before tweaking something I am not sure of.

    You just need 1/8" slack at the perch.
