Is there any difference between oem and ebay clutch cables?

I have to clean/oil mine regularly or it becomes stiff. When my cable snapped last year, I ordered one off of ebay and didn't think much of it.

Am I the only one having to oil their cables? or do oem cables require some tlc as well?

You should have ordered from XJ4Ever.

All cables require periodic maintenance, and it is strongly suggested to lubricate all new cables, even the Teflon coated ones.

so the ones from xj4ever are teflon coated? I rode my cbr929rr for a year without ever having to lube the clutch cable and it's always silky smooth...

some cables have a plastic liner, depending on what plastic and what lube you use, the plastic can swell and/or get soft.
    yes there is a difference.
show the lever pivot bolt some love too

    Proper cable routing matters too.

My cable is routed as best as can be. Pivot bolt has nice molybdenum grease.
Is it known that a oem cable from a yamaha dealer is the best cable by far and has good enough of a liner to require minimal attention? or is it just a bit better but still lube once a month kinda thing?

The clutch cable shouldn't need to be lubed but once a year.

I guess I have been very lucky so far......I have never lubed my cables in 32+ years......they seem rather smooth to me.......& they are routed properly......time to get the lube out I guess......
