As he listens to all the other bikers driving by, he stares at his shiny hunk of metal and wonders, "Why ME"? Here's the latest...my no oil light problem is not a problem, there's lots of fresh oil in it so the sensor is happy. I rolled the bike out in the driveway to do the first test drive (in the driveway" in 5 years. It starts like a dream after recleaning the enrichment circuit and changing the butterfly shaft seals...just push the button and instant running, no throttle or "choke" on. Popped it into first with a slight clunk and jerk, then let out the clutch and went forward towards my happy smiling wife. Pulled in the clutch and things fell apart.
The bike stalled after pulling the clutch in and wouldn't restart until I found neutral (that was a fight too). My fabricated forward control shift side felt funny after fighting to find neutral...oh joy...the shift rod is now bent! (Wife no longer smiling.) I push the bike into the garage and just stare at it (repeat the first sentence). I grab a length of steel rod and refabricate another shift rod, this time it doesn't bend as it's a bit thicker...like my head. After reading some other threads on our site, I'm thinking that the sidestand or clutch switch is at fault. As well, I'm going to adjust the clutch and cam chain tensioner a la Rick method! Am I missing anything else reference this newest problem?

Appreciated all the feedback on the sidestand and clutch problems. Anyway, both were rebuilt and work according to the manual. One question...why is there no spark when I try to start it with the kickstand down and the bike in neutral? If I put the kickstand up, it starts. Hopefully somebody, anybody, can steer me in a direction to fix this.
