    Brake pedal.
    Pivot.
    Master cylinder actuating rod.
    Master Cylinder with fabricated mount.
    Brake lines.
    Swing arm.
    Swing arm caliper mount stay.
    Stay.
    Caliper mount.
    Caliper.
    Rear wheel with rotor attached.
    Spacers and axle.
    Miracle.

My guess. The ass-end off a 900 ... IF the swing-arm pivots fit the 650 frame. I have my doubts about that.

It's possible to install a disc brake by replacing the rear wheel and installing the master cylinder, etc., my SR500 has one, but I wouldn't do it because the drum works just fine and is a lot easier to maintian. I'd like to get rid of the rear disc on the SR500 and on the XS1100 too if I could.

I'd rather have a duel disk front on my xj650 than bother with changing the rear drum to disk but i don't see me getting to that anytime soon.

It's easy enought to install dual disks, I did it on the SR500 because it didn't want to stop even with the rear disk. The easy way is to get another caliper similar to the one you already have, a length of brake hose long enough to reach one of the existing fittings, longer banjo bolt and new wheel with 2 disks already installed, such as from a 750 Seca and then mount it all.

I may look into it over this winter (once I learn to spell the word dual).
Can I keep the same forks or do they need to come from a 750 as well?

You can keep the same forks if they have mounting holes for the caliper. It they don't it's obvious that you would need to change them.
