I've done some searching here, and also in my Haynes manual, and can't seem to find anywhere how to check that my brake fluid level is where it should be. Should it just be topped up to the point that it wets the bottom of the filler cap or something?

Sorry, probably a newbie question... Thanks!

There should be a mark/line inside the fluid reservoir to show how much to put in. On my bike it is at the sight glass.

As far as I can tell, there's no sight glass on the SECA master; this is the oddball design where the MC is hidden behind the headlight, mostly invisible.

It's like the final drive, just harder to get to.

You turn the bars full left, unscrew the filler bolt (behind the headlight). I think I remember it being plastic, hex head. Put plenty of rags underneath, then top off the brake fluid with a syringe.

A flashlight might help. That's proably why they put a switch in there for the brake fluid level. But hey, your bars look really clean with those plastic covers don't they

As far as brake fluid type you can use DOT 3 or 4. They are the same just that the DOT 4 brake fluid has been more highly filtered, cleaner. DO NOT in any circumstance use anything above DOT 4 as they are silicone based and are not compatible with these bikes braking systems. Also they cannot be mixed with the lower numbered brake fluids, as DOT 4 and 3 are glycol based fluids.
