OK so I'm done my fork seal job and it turns out my manual is for an XJ650G (1980?) and this bike is a XJ650K (1983). Maybe this is why the air valves aren't shown or any info on them. I read somewhere do not exceed 17 psi. My buddy has a manual pump I can use. Thanks.

Which maual do you have? If it is 1980 specific then that is indeed the reason for not having any information in it about the air valves.

    Yamaha's guide from the FSM

    solo rider 5.7 - 11.4 psi

    with passenger 5.7 - 11.4 psi

    with luggage 5.7 - 11.4 psi

with luggage and passenger 11.4 - 17.1 psi

You made me look a little deeper in the manual and yes, 2 pages in is has copyright 1980 by Yamaha Motor Corp. so I'll assume again it's for an '80. Thanks for those numbers....I kinda thought 17 was on the high side. A happy medium seems to be around 8psi.
    Cheers k-moe!

Your happy medium will not be the same as another person's. I prefer to run the forks without additional air when riding solo. Start with 8 PSI and tweak up and down from there until you find what suits you.
