I got a really good deal on a set of xj750 carbs. Small issue they are midnight carbs and are black.

The slide covers are far from gold so these aren't immaculate.

But I don't want black carbs.

Suggestions on removing the paint? the whole kit and caboodle is coming apart either way.

Or does someone want to trade me an afternoon set for a midnight" Paint on the bodies is all there, there are scrapes on the bowls where screw drivers have hit.

I'll have to take a look at my 750 midnight. I dont remember if the carbs are black on it or not as it's not the most original. I'll take a look when I can and let you know. Might be able to do a swap but it's just been so darn long since I've looked at it

I bought a gal. of gunk carburetor parts cleaner complete kit it includes parts basket. I broke the carbs apart and removed all of the parts. I dipped each carb in the can for about 1/2 hour. Then with a small brush and warm soapy water brush away all of the melted paint. Safety glasses and gloves are a must, this stuff can hurt you.

brake fluid may remove the paint a little less harsh than gunk
