I have a dent - not very large - on the left hand side of my gas tank.

I don't have an enormous amount of experience with body work (a little bondo work here and there on old cars). I'm wondering if it is worth it for me to try to pull this dent out or if I should just try to fill it with some fiberglass and sand it until it looks good.

If that tank badge screw hole is in the tank & not a bracket, you might try a bolt in there & pull out the dent.

Thanks, Wizard. I'll check it out tomorrow. If it IS a bracket, can I drill in to the tank?

I have drilled & used self tapping screws to pull out dents, but you must be prepared to put a rivet in the hole & solder it, I also used a tank sealer after.

Before you make a lot of work for yourself ... visit a "Rent-All"

They have a Dent Pulling System that does not require poking a hole in the side of the tank.
Its a Tool that Spot Welds a Copper Rivet to the damaged area.
Using a quantity of Rivets ant the Slide Hammer Pulling Tool that comes with the Tool Kit ... you can Pull the dent out without needing to weld holes shut afterwards.

    Just remember:
You work from the OUTSIDE --> IN.
You gradually work the whole dent out. Not lifting on one River at a time ... but, gradually lifting the whole dent as you grip the Rivets and Slug them pulling-out the dent.

You wont get it perfect ... you get the dent lifted-out so body work wioll conceal it.

The Rivets Spot-welded to the sheet metal to pull-out the dent are grinded off ... flush and no welding-up of a hole is needed.
