I have a 1982 Yamaha XJ 550 that I bought as a flip. Currently, the bike will not charge itself. I've replaced the stator, the R/R, the battery, and the thing is still getting no charge. I've done all the different tests with a multimeter, including the resistance between the Green & blue wires, and nothing has gotten me to a conclusion. Between the white wires off the stator, I'm only seeing about .5 - 1.6 volts AC (depending on rpm), where I believe I'm supposed to see about 60 volts.

Important note: When I first replaced the battery on the bike, there was a mix-up and the leads were on the wrong poles (I know this is incredibly stupid). I'm assuming this messed something up that I'm not seeing but from what I can, all the wiring seems okay as far as continuity goes.

Please help me I want to drive this thing off a bridge.

So that means no excitation to the field coil (rotor), so no voltage induced in the stator when the engine is running

Try reading this thread and maybe get some ideas - the key takeaway for field coil excitation is the green (control wire) should be near zero volts with key on and bike not running.
