I installed my drag bars today. The throttle and choke cables look pretty goofy poking out with all the extra now. Are there other cables from different models that would easily fit better? The secas I have seen on here have flatter bars, do those work?

you should be able to reroute the clutch cable to be less goofy, as for the choke should be the same but i couldnt say since i dont use them. i have clip on bars and use the stock clutch cble and it doesnt look goofy but took several trys to get it right.

I had the same problem. Remove your gas tank and reroute the cables. If the pull on either becomes too stiff, try routing differently AND lube the cables (e.g., by squiring some penetrating oil in to the cable sheathing - there is also a special tool made for this if you want to get fancy).

Here's the thing with clutch cables:

You can swap with a clutch cable from a different bike, provided the inner wire:eek:uter sheath ratio is the same; in other words as long as both cables have the same "free length" of inner cable.

In the case of the 550s, the stock clutch cable is nearly identical in this respect to a 750 Seca cable, and the 750's cable is about 3" shorter. But it DOES NOT have the same "free length" as a cable from a 650 Seca, for instance.

You should also go with a shorter upper brake hose when you replace your old originals with stainless lines.

Yeah that was my plan when I get brake lines, I was just wondering if there was a shorter length from a different bike I should get or if I should try one of the custom made lines I have seen people post about on here. Also, The bike ran fine before I put the bars on, and now its hard to start and when it does the rpms shoot all the way up and stay there until I turn it off. I suspected a stuck throttle cable but i looked underneath the linkage moved up and down just fine.
