    Hi all,

My Oxford junior Disc lock turned out to be made of butter.
I liked it because its small enough to quickly throw on when the bike is out of sight for a short time, easier than hauling around the chain & padlock that it sleeps in.

I have had a couple of forgetful moments where gently reversing out of a park, I hit the clunk of a forgotten disc lock. on the third or fourth error the internal 5mm pin was so bent that I couldn't remove the lock, without rolling forward and bending it back into shape.
Last night the same thing happened and I actually tore the thing apart to get it off.
I should clarify, I'm a very light guy riding a cbr125r while the XJ has its carbs fiddled with. Not a lot of weight or force.
Anyhow, if I can accidentally destroy it, a burglar with intent would have no great problem.

So what do you use and why?

I don't bother with them anymore, one decided it was going to seize itself and I ended up having to remove it with a grinder.

Turns out that a grinder cuts through them like a hot knife through butter and besides, if someone was going to steal a 125cc motorcycle, they would probably just pick it up and throw it in the back of a van. You would be better off with a chain and something to lock it off to. A decent battery operated grinder is still going to get through it without much fuss though. Opportunist thieves may be deterred, I suppose not everyone has access to a grinder on a whim.

Ah man, Ive had the same disc lock for nearly fifteen years, in fact the guy I bought my old 550 Maxim from gave it to me with the bike. Its yellow, and so beat up I have no idea who made it. Typical barrel lock, probably easier to use a Bic pen to get through it.
