8 of my 20 valves are showing 0 clearance, and some of my cam lobes are looking like this:

Is this too much wear or can I still use this camshaft?

Are you talking about the "polished" areas?

Just looks polished to me, I don't see excessive wear.

If you're truly worried about it, roll the cam so you can get a digital caliper on it and measure the lobe from its butt to its tip; that spec is published in the service manual.

The valves are showing zero clearance because they've pounded themselves into the head. Good catch.

I think what he's trying to show is the 'blue-ing' of the lobe tips. However, as long as they are not scored or scratched, I'd work at getting the valves back into spec, and then you should be good-to-go.

Like Fitz said, if you're really concerned with measurement, check the size of the lobe. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Just had me worried, all of the valves showing 0 clearance have that polished look and the others didn't. While I know how to build engines I haven't done it as much as I'd like. The engines we tore apart in high school and college didn't have much wear. Thank you.
