I am going to be starting some maintenance this weekend and need to pull off the tank. I assume the tank has to be drained before it is pulled and due to my schedule I suspect it will be off and empty for 3-4 weeks. Do I need to do anything to treat the inside of the empty tank to prevent any corrosion or other issue while the tank is empty?

I removed my tank half full. The vacuum tap will stop the fuel escaping or if it has had a manual tap fitted, switch it to off.

Remember to disconnect the level sender wires first!

As long as your petcock is working normally, you don't need to empty the tank to remove it. Our bikes have no wires to disconnect -- just have to remove the bolt at the end, lift it a bit, remove the fuel & vacuum lines, then it can be pulled off -- full and all. Put it down on a towel or other reasonable soft surface out of the way and don't worry about it.

So, the petcock should be on "ON" if I want to pull the full tank, correct?

As long as your petcock is working normally, yes.

YES. As long as the petcock is functioning correctly "ON"=off in the absence of vacuum.

Oh, almost forgot: Dude you said "do-do" need to fix the title. 8O

I haven't seen any issues with the petcock. We will see...

Thanks for the heads up on the title...

Can I fix the title or is my mistake immortalized forever?
