I'm going to need a set of saddlebags for my XJ700 for the summer (only ride while wife and kids are gone). Im looking for a pair that WON'T break the bank, seems how I put a good share of money into this bike aready.
If someplace has them used that would be fine with me.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks

I just bought a set from Leatherup.com. They're a little bigger than they looked, but I usually ride alone anyway. I'm kinda stuck with the lace on flaps that fit between them. Seems I have a lot of trouble getting the seat to latch with that extra width in there. I was thinking of cutting them off and just screwing them into the grab bar frame under the seat.... since they have hidden zippers it would be fairly easy. I guess I just need to sit there and stare at em for awhile... It'll come to me I hope.
    Any ideas?

This spring I got a set of "All American Rider Flap-Over Slant Saddlebags" from BikeBandit. $98.96.
Because of the rear signal location and the way the exhaust tilt upward, you'll need the smallest bags you can find. Also, you'll need some sort of supports to keep the bags away from the rear tire. I used 1 inch steel flat stock that I cut, drilled, bent, and welded. My son-in-law used aluminum flat stock for his Stryker. I had a set of bags from Tour Master that got 6 years ago. They didn't take sliding across the pavement very well.

Otherwise have a look on ebay, you can sometimes find really good deals on them. That's where I got mine anyways. Same goes for craigslist... The other day someone was selling his entire XJ, saddlebags included for 150$. It was already sold unfortunately :(.

Also I didn't use any kind of contraption to prevent the bags from rubbing against the wheel, they have the suspension to stop them. Probably not the most efficient setup, but it worked fine for about 4000 km.
