So I'm doing some tuning with my Colortune on my 1980 Maxim. The everything is fine except on this cylinder (which I don't know if it's 2 or 3, in the middle closer to left side). At idle, it has spark and will fire blue every now and then must mostly misses. Once the throttle is opened it fires just fine, every now and then getting a lean fire but otherwise good, the bike runs pretty well. The other cylinders seem fine as far as I can tell from the colortune.

Thought I would do some tuning since it seems like I'm getting not-so-good mileage (approx 40 mpg).

sounds like your pilot is plugged up. have the carbs been worked over?
is the plug dry when you let it idle and then pull it?
how far out is your idle screw? does that change anything at all?

I just bought the bike about a month ago, and the previous owner had the carbs sent off for a complete rebuild and cleaning. I'll let you know on the idle screw and everything, while I have the tank pulled my ADD kicked in and I got motivated to patch and paint it.

sounds more like OCD mixed with a mild case of ADD.

last night I went out to check the tire pressures and wound up pulling the plugs and adjusting the idle screws. number 2 was a little white.
