Just got in from working on the bike in the garage. This is a reminder to lube all the control cables on your bike. This should be done on yearly bases. I just lubed the clutch cable, what a difference. It got the snap back in the lever nice and smoooooth. Then moved onto the choke cable. After I flushed the cable out it looked like coffee running out of the cable. Get yourself a cable lubber and a can of cable lube and go to town. Treat her good and always use lube.

Easy stuff -- you go to your nearest motorcycle place and buy two things:
One: A cable luber (link to see what they look like - not an endorsment):
    Cable Luber
Two: Some lubricant - I use Bel-Ray multi-purpose lube, but you can choose any of the ones offered at the shop.

You put the cable in the luber, put the hose from the lube into it, tighten and go to town. You'll be wanting a couple of rags as well -- not a perfect seal.

A couple of months back I was having a nice quiet night at work (hence nightshift). I decided to clean and check over the cables and boy what a good thing to do.

The clutch cable had about three strands left on it 8O .

ALWAYS good to keep up with the lubing. I bought a can of Yamaha cable lube, looks like it emits a kinda white paraffin or something, seems to work alright so far. A cable luber is a must and has been very handy.

    Just my 2c

Replace the springs. Somebody may have installed stiffer springs at some point.

Check the rest of the throwout mechanism for binding.

Never did this before. How slippery is the lube? Would it be bad to get on your tires? What about the paint/plastics?
