I bought these crash bars on Ebay as well as a petcock and fuel guage float assembly. I was able to make a good petcock out of the 2 I had and have a spare fuel float mechanism too. Mounting the crusier pegs on the crash bars made a heck of a difference. Less wind turbelence and ultimate comfort. I'm loving this bike more and more as I ride her!! I did drill the exhaust out. It didn't seem to make a difference untill I drilled the holes in the top section. A bit louder without being real loud.

My winter projects include putting new seals and oil in the forks and replacing the rear brake pads. I also seen some LED driving lights I may install. I don't expect them to give me more night distance lighting but for others to see me easier. Has anyone tried something like this?? http://www.amazon.com/LEDSTORE-Power-Li ... RHO9SJYXXV

The reason drilling the mufflers didn't do a whole lot is that no exhaust is coming out the holes you drilled unless the mufflers are ruptured inside somewhere. The exhaust comes out the tube in the center; all you drilled holes in is the "shell." There are a whole series of bulkheads and baffles in there.

RE: your middle pic: that rubber loop on the front fender is for the speedometer cable to route through so it doesn't bang around. Yours is hanging next to the loop; it should go through it.

And if those are original brake lines, for shame, for shame. Check the date codes.

Just ordered a new speedo cable. The speedometer has always showed about 33% less than actual speed. I have a gps velcro'd to the speedo side of the dash for accurate mph :) As to my earlier post, has anyone tried these or other LED fog lights?? If I get them, I'll probably only run them with the aux light off to conserve on the amps pulled.

Don't think the speedo cable will fix the output error, it's one of those either working/spinning or not working/not spinning kinda things.

The error would be the pickup in the speedo itself.

Fitz has a nice write up about the dissasebly if the instrument cluster and speedo

Put the Speedo on your Bench.
Clean and Lube the Indicator Pivot Point.
Shoot the center Pivot Bushing with Electrical Component Cleaner.
The disappearing kind. It cleans the Bush and Stem, evaporates, done.
After Cleaning,... Lube with a Precision Oiler.
Exercise the Needle over to the right using a de-fuzzed Q-Tip Stick.
    The odds are 50/50.

Unless you're riding 2 up, with the bags full, you might want to back off the shock preload a bit.
