    Hey guys,

On spring break and boy is it good to get back to the bike. I refurbished the clutch yesterday (new friction plates and springs, metal plains weren't needed) and boy does it make a difference. However now I have some new troubles that I'm worried about.

First off is the sticky throttle. It's high 30's, low 40's where I live right now and when I go out and ride (yes I've been told I'm insane) the throttle seems to be sticking. I noticed it a bit before but with the cold it has really made itself known. What can I do to make that throttle snap back like it should? I know it's more than the cold and I'd like to solve this problem.

My second problem is really puzzling to me. During start up there is the initial instrument panel light up, where the warning lights turn on and then turn off and it runs through the diagnostic of the bike. My instrument panel is in a perpetual state of start up. Like the all the turn on, and stay on, and they don't turn off the 2-3 seconds they usually take to turn off. This all happens while the bike is running mind you. The bike doesn't lose power or anything, all the lights are bright and it starts up first try, so i ruled out battery issues. I think it's a loose wire someplace in the headlamp body. I replaced all the leads about 3-4 months ago it it has worked fine (and it looks much better) but now I am having tail light issues (which I am convinced is a loose wire) and this new issue. What makes me think this is another lose wire is the fact that at 8k+ rpm the warning panel turns off and it goes though the diagnostic. Meaning the vibration may put the wire back into place. Is there one master wire or connection that would cause this? Do you guys just recommend I pull the headlamp basket apart and redo all the connections? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Jared, you might be experiencing a shorted "SELF TEST" switch, have you checked it out? They can (and do) get stuck or shorted by corrosion. Pop it out, clean it up and retest.

    Hi Jared,
The electrical fault sounds like one of the same faults I was having and my resolution came down to one faulty connector in behind the dash.
The 9pin connector with the centre pin missing (so 8 pins) holds the connections for the sensors and is low current. Clean that up and I think it will help. Well thats where I had this problem where the dash just stayed on and the tail light had no power supplied because it is supplied via the monitor module in the dash.
Here is a few pictures of the connector on the spare dash I had given to me.

Not gonna lie. 33 degrees on a bike is mighty cold. On the upside I fixed my electrical issue. It ended up being that 8 pin connector that cds1984 told me about. I pulled open the headlight basket pulled the connector apart and tried starting it, same symptoms, except it didn't turn off no matter the engine speed. Cleaned the connector pins up a bit plugged it in, ta-da. All set. I just went for a 10 minute test ride, no problems at all, tail light works, warning lights off, sure let's me rest easier knowing I won't have a little run in with the law about my tail light again :p  . Thanks for all who gave feedback to this 8)

Now, time to get rid of that sticky throttle....
