I had to disconnect all of the electrical connections in the light housing when I rebuilt my MC. I marked every connector and wire except the horn connections. Idiot. Can someone tell me which is the positive terminal on the horn? the terminals on the horn are labled 1 and Y. The wire connections are a brown wire and a pink wire. Electrical diagram shows the conductor colors but not the terminal points. Any help would be appreciated. I do not need to burn up the horns. Thanks.

on my bike the two prongs from the horn protrude from the left side (if you were sitting on the bike). There is a top prong and a bottom prong. the hot wire (the lead which measures 12V with a volt meter) goes to the BOTTOM prong. but that is an '82 xj650j maxim.

The stock horn doesn't care which way you wire it. It's just a solenoid and breaker points.

Thanks for the information. I have not connected the battery. I will check the electrical circuits tomorrow.

You should get a Test Light to help troubleshoot Electrical Circuitry on the Bike.
Some Circuits, ... like the Horn Circuit ... can fool a Pro.
The Horn Button completes the Horn Circuit.
The Button closes the Circuit to Ground.

This Test Light is worth its weight in gold.
