Anyone used a local auto store or name brand paint that matched the color of the case? Looking for suggestions. I think many moons ago I remember Len having something, was seeing if anyone knew something local.

If you want to do a spray can job - VHT is nice, I did my engine with this spray, a few people I know also used this brand with good results.

I've used standard black bbq paint with great success, its way cheaper than actual engine enamel and holds up really well.

This is true, I have the engine out, I could color change it, out hue change. Just looking to stay silver, no black. I just didn't want to have pull the top end off was why I was looking for original to touch up some areas.

Dupli-color DE 1615 Aluminum engine paint has been an exact match for Yamaha silver on all my xs and xj 1100s. Even on 2 xj750s it was exact.

Beware of high temp paints used to paint grills/stoves/heaters/heatsinks etc. They are heat resistant - true, but often they are not fuel resistant.
