:? I've noticed that coming off speed and shifting at low speeds (once the engine is warmed completely) that there's some chatter. It's not overly loud or obnoxious and compared to my last Harley it's downright quiet. LOL Since I'm new to the Maxim, I'm wondering if this is normal chain chatter etc??? My BIL does a lot of wrenching for me as my closeup sight is fading from so much body dust in my eyes over the years. He's a certified HD mechanic and says it's normal. Thought I'd get the opinion of those who ride them though. :)

Depends on the chatter you are hearing. There is a normal chatter of the valves that you can hear.

It's not something I hear at speed or idle, only hear it while I'm shifting at the lower speeds after the engine is completely warmed up. If I give it some gas it goes away. I'm NOT talking about low octane pinging though, well at least I don't think so. LOL

Hmm I misread your post - I have not noticed anything like that on mine.

I have a friend in Fort Worth who owns an Automotive Repair shop. He's well known to be sort of a genius on anything on wheels. He passed this on to me on one of my Delphi Forums. It was interesting and thought it might be useful to others or at least stir a little interest or debate.

"The 750 engine uses a small link-plate chain to drive an auxiliary shaft, which carries the generator behind the cylinders, to avoid mounting the generator on the crankshaft To make the engine narrower.

You're probably hearing that auxilliary chain. Totally normal".
