ENGINE HELP NEEDED

    i HAVE A 82 XJ750 MAXIM HOW HARD AND WHAT WHOULD I HAVE TO DO TO DROP A COMPLETE 82 XJ750 SECA ENGINE IN THE FRAME ?

    I think the differences between the Seca and the Maxim is mainly cosmetic and engines are the same.
    Basically remove seat, tank, carbs, coils, radiator/oil cooler, undo shaft drive universal joint and engine is ready to drop.
    Some people lay the bike on its side to ease engine removal and installation.

    ok cool thank you my engine is rough peices keep breaking off the starter clutch is out im just going to replace it and either sell off or rebuild this one.

    Just a heads up. The seca engine was a solid mount to the frame. The Maxim engine was a rubber cushion mount. Make sure you use the correct mounting hardware when switching the engines.

    keep the the shift lever from the maxim engine as well.

    It's not just the shift lever, you will want to swap the whole cover (where the shifter shaft goes) the Seca is different from the Maxim.
