I'm re-assembling my 550 today. I'm using assembly lube and am going to spin the crank to pre- lube the engine. Is there an easy way to do this?
Anything my Clymer manual doesn't cover or is wrong?

Pre-oiling can be done by winding the motor over with plugs out and ignition off or disconnected in 15 second bursts (to avoid starter heat) with a battery boost or jump from non-running car.

I would guess 30 seconds should completely oil a dry XJ motor.
To check, you would have to see oil at the cams, or use a gauge.
