After almost 3 years, I finally got my old cj7 out of the garage to make room for the bike tear down. So now I have the space to tear the top end apart.

I'm gonna disassemble the jugs on up. I will do as much as I can honing/lapping valves/cleaning/measuring/replacing or at least as much as money will allow. Most of what I've read on the interwebs suggests a specific wear in procedure for rings that consists of running it hard in cycles of acceleration & deceleration for at least the first 20-30 minutes of first fire up to seat/file the rings against the honed cylinders, not taking it easy. Makes sense to me.

Which means, I need to have everything in order (Brakes) so that when it is completed I can hop on it for the first fire up & take off (doing the front now, rear is next). I did rebuild the carbs & did a bench sync/floats wet set, I guess I'll have to run it without a vac sync?

Of course, I won't know for sure what I will need to do until I get in there & measure things, but at least a honing & valve lapping. It may change once I get in there. I've got the manual so I will follow that.

If it is just stuck rings, WOULD YOU reuse them (after cleaning, honing cylinders & measuring for spec)?
