    Hi there
My 1981 xj650 has just about all of the bolts that hold the exhaust pipes to the engine gone. Some need to be driller out and some must have fallen out. I noticed how bad they were this morning when I notice a tapping noise. My question is what should I get to replace them, should I put something on the to keep them in and are there any gaskets or shims in there that I should replace while doing this?

It also started backfiring a little when shifting from high revs, could the leaks cause this?

    thanks
    Steve
