    When I put the 550 away last year, she wasn't starting due to a bad solenoid. Didn't think about it too much over the winter (especially with the purchase of my '71 bronco in March), but hearing all the bikes passing by the house got the itch started.
    Went through a bag of relays I bought on ebay for $5 last year & found what I needed. Quick shot of starting fluid and she fired up.
    Registered her for the year last night. Doesn't want to start on her own right now, but I'm a lot closer than I was a week ago

    that's a good feeling! I wasn't sure if my 650 would pop off this year, but a shot of starting fluid and she started right up! I hope my carb cleaning worked! I haven't let it run long enough to notice yet.

    Run about 4oz of SeaFoam through your next full tank of gas might save you from having to yank the carbs.

    If you can get your drain screws loose, shove an old towel in there (with the fuel off) and crack the drains loose. Turn the petcock to "PRI" for a few seconds to flush out any accumulated crud.

    I'll do that Brian. I did take the tank off and drain the stabilized fuel that was in there over the winter, then put some fresh gas in along with 4 oz of Seafoam (great minds).
    The mechanic at one of my local independent bike shops used to race a Seca 550 ('81, same as mine) & has the original carbs still. He ran it with them for 2-3 months, then upgraded. There were cleaned, lubed & sealed when he put them away. Made me a pretty good offer on them. I'm thinking of selling the ones on the bike + my spare set & buying those.

    I'd just buy those, and keep at least your originals. Mikuni bodies are hard to come by it never hurts to have a spare. My "summer" project, once all 3 bikes are operational (can't forget the Norton) is to rebuild my "good spare" rack so I can swap them to the '81 and then go through those.
