full i was running the whole bike off my truck battery. i have a battery to pick up tomorow. but a friend suggested that i run it off my truck battery just to see it turn over and maybe fire up.

the bike seems to turn over fast enough for the engine to start. its getting gas and i just cleaned the carburators. so it should be working fine. i have also made sure the the spark plugs are good. fingures get numb after the 4 lol.

    any other suggesttions?

So is it sparking and not igniting or not sparking at all?

I asked about the battery because some times these things will turn over, but not have enough juice left to spark. There's another thread on here where a guy wacked his CDI and it started right up and is good for now. http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=1 ... tml#132388

Got to find out if there's spark for now.

Try a FRESH set of plugs. If it got flooded the plugs can get saturated.

Fully charged battery; fresh plugs; fresh gas, and see what happens.

One coil is hooked to 1 &4- - longer wires
The other 2 &3. Try a little shot of Starting Fluid into the airbox or across the pods. If you got spark and compression it WILL fire.
Don't give it any throttle while cranking it.

Then if it dies, goto carb cleaning 101. Specifically the Pilot and Enrichment circuits.

yeah i picked up a set of new plugs today. got the specific battery on its way. for now im using a little bigger of a sled battery if not ill just continue to use my truck battery. i did a carb clean try to clean everything i might have over looked some thing but im pretty miticulous when it comes to this stuff. and ill make sure its getting spark if not then i know some thing is wrong with that but it was good witht he older plugs. but like i said ill switch them any way.

any more ideas in the process will be great

ok so i got it to run but it only stays running if i hold the choke. and if i rev it up it will only go to abotu 2 grand and then studder and die down. i think its running lean but im unsure on how to get enrich the mixture. or am i incorrect?

i am currently out of funds for the bike so the clymer manual will have to wait. i really want to ride her so any help int he mean time will be very usefull to me thanks guys.
