Yesterday I looked into my oil problem - nothing apparently wrong so I started it up and went for a 45 minute ride.

I was feeling pretty good - did one of my favorite twisty roads - sat around 4500rpm on the way out and 6500-8000 on the way back ( backing off the throttle very early for the turns and accelerating smoothly out). The throttle cable seems a bit heavy...

I felt alright, but certainly rusty. I wasn't as smooth with the throttle transitions, maybe related to the heaviness but certainly compounded by my rust. I had a tightness in my back which was really effecting my left turns... I was chopping those up really badly turning in too early and being forced into double apexing them. Going right I was smooth as silk. Practice.

I'll be going over the bike again - relubing cables and working it's kinks out. Mostly this is the time of the season when I learn to ride again - I haven't ridden since late november!

It's good to be back in the saddle -

Must feel great to get back in the saddle. I was out only two months with my repairs so I can't complain. I got to ride in November, December and January. I bet the scenery up there is breath taking!

It's a nice place to ride. Lots of great secondary roads around, and the cabot trail is only 3 hours away.

The early part of the season the roads still have frost heaves, it's a bit like riding a pogo stick! In the summer the roads smooth out and the fall is absolutely gorgeous - the best riding ever. Everyone has gone home, the non-bikers have put their bikes away and the leaves are just beautiful.

    Woot.
