After a little research (and a LOT of forum surfing),I replaced my starter relay. This took care of my electrical gremlins, but no sooner did I fix this, and the starter button popped off. NBD,but I will replace it with an aluminum button I found on ebay. $13 shipped is a small price to pay for an item that is better than the OEM part. Now to swap out the wheels!

I often ask myself why it's worth investing my time, money, and energy to keep a 20+ year old bike running. It can be a drag sometimes when these things come up, but the cool thing is that these things are (normally) cheap to operate and luckily, parts still available (though getting harder to find). I love not having a bike payment too! It's a labor of love to keep these bikes running!

Hope you get all those issues sorted out.

    Keep riding!

Hey Danno, what kind of electrical gremlins did you have with your starter relay, if you don't mind me asking? I'm still trying to track down mine before I just try and replace almost all the electrical.

On the bright side, it did not happen 200miles from home...
I enjoy the wrenching, but on the road wrenching can be tiresome.

At first, the bike would lose power sporadically, and the headlight would flicker . Sometimes,I would have to pull off the road and let the bike sit for a while before I could get it to restart . As the problem progressed, the bike had to be started by jumping the starter relay. After replacing the relay, all previous ailments appear to have been cured.
