I am trying to troubleshoot a lean condition on my FJ600. Carbs were completely rebuilt and cleaned meticulously all seals replaced, no Vacuum leaks, new intake boots, pilot screw at 2.75 turns out. The only other thing I haven't checked is the fuel float height. Last summer when I put the bike back together I adjusted the float height on a fixture I saw in this forum with the carbs at perfectly level. As you know the carbs sit at an angle on the bike.

My question: when I adjusted the float height, should they have been level or should they have been on angle to match the bike? If they need to be level, I was thinking to put the bike on a plank at angle to get the carbs level and then re-check before I go ahead and pull the rack if they are off.
    Thanks to all lookers

The carbs need to be level when wet setting the float height. Setting the front wheel on a boart to level the bike will do the job for checking fule levels while the carbs are on the bike.
