I love simple green. I soaked the carbs in a solution for about a week to clean them out some and I wish I had pics to show what a difference it made just hitting them with a toothbrush. The crud was just falling off, they went from black inside to a nice clean color. One float was stuck so bad I thought I was just going to have to cut it off and buy a new pin but after grabbing the end of the pin with some pliers it eventually worked its way out. I had some sandpaper to clean the pins and the pivot points on the floats but the brush took care of them quite nicely and no sanding there was needed. Where the pin goes through the carb I just used a q-tip with the cotton pulled off to clean there, worked pretty good.
These carbs were so bad that one of the piston valves was stuck and that gave me a few scary minutes working that loose.
The starter jets are nice and clean now but the pilot jets aren't coming clean easily. That and resetting the floats are all I think I have left for this "simple" cleaning.

I think I remember reading that the floats should be set at 13/16", here is the quote(love to remember search), but could somebody give me a couple pics to make sure I am understanding exactly where these measurements are from-to:
"Set the float heights with the carbs upside down (off the bike, obviously) at the following measurement:
from the carb body base ridge (where the gasket would sit, but without the bowl gasket in place, and NOT on the raised rib that is in that area) measure 13/16" upwards, and adjust the float so that the MOLD LINE in the float (at the end of the float, not at the pivot side of the float) is at that 13/16" height."
